Born in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture in 1974. Graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University. After serving two terms as a member of the Iwate Prefectural Assembly, he ran for governor of Iwate Prefecture in September 2011, objecting to the construction of a giant seawall, but failed to win the runner-up position and retired from politics. In 2013, he founded the NPO Tohoku Kaiken and launched the world's first information magazine with food, "Tohoku Eat Tsushin," and became its editor-in-chief. In 2014, he founded the Japan Eating Communication League, a general incorporated association, and expanded the model to 50 regions throughout Japan and Taiwan. In 2016, he launched Pocket Marche, a smartphone app that directly connects producers and consumers. In 2018, he organized the "Heisei no Hyakuso Ikkoku" (Peasant Revolt of the Heisei Era), a road trip to all 47 prefectures of Japan. As an advocate of "related population," he aims to create a society where urban and rural areas live together. He will appear on "Cambria Palace" (TV Tokyo) in February 2019 and November 2022. He is the author of "So, I Make Farmers Stars" (CCC Media House) and "Stirring Up the City and the Region" (Kobunsha Shinsho), and co-author of "Miraigaku: Shrinking Population Society" (Bungeishunju) and "Living an Empathetic Capital Society" (Diamond Inc.).
