We’re excited to announce that the Advertising Week Europe 2020 Opening Gala will be held at London’s iconic Tower Bridge.
Dating back to the 19th century, building Tower Bridge was no easy feat. Constructed between 1886 and 1894, Tower Bridge was the largest and most complex bascule bridge standing by the time it was completed. It took them eight whole years to build Tower Bridge, so it’s fitting that the event marks eight years of us connecting the industry.
Interesting fact: “bascule” is derived from the French word for “see-saw,” and the bascules within Tower Bridge were operated by hydraulic power using steam. Today the bascules are still operated by hydraulics, although they are now powered by oil and electricity instead of steam. You can even see the original pumping engines, accumulators and boilers on display as exhibits within the bridge’s Engine Rooms. So much history!
Kick off The Week and enjoy the view from the top at the VIP opening reception at London’s historic Tower Bridge on Monday, 16th March, for a high level view of what’s in store.
Open to Platinum Delegates & by invitation.
